Chrysoprase is a variety of chalcedony that contains nickel. Its color varies from a light apple-green to deep green. The darker varieties of chrysoprase are also referred to as prase. There is a also a pretty variety called citron chyrsoprase or "lemon chrysoprase" which is a very bright yellow-green.
We like this stone because of the beautiful, clean polish it takes. This gemstone requires no special care. A combination of mild detergent, warm water, and a soft brush is a good choice for cleaning.
Very fine, highly saturated chrysoprase gems have been misidentified as "Imperial jade".
